Default BBC iPlayer desktop not working

Has anyone got the iPlayer desktop working in 11.1? iPlayer works if I watch the file by streaming live online but if I choose to download the file nothing happens.

If I try start iPlayer desktop nothing happens except a small box or something flashes up on the screen very quickly before disappearing and I get a BBC process in the process list.

I have Adobe Air 1.5 installed, flash player 10.0.31.18 insatlled and the latest BBC iPlayer desktop (cannot remember version).

You use a terminal, here is an example. After doing the: get_iplayer
All the feeds will show in a A-Z list

Here is a of screen of it
The list with an example command highlighted - it matches the last in the list

Thanks caf.
I've installed get_iplayer and am playing around with it but have a question. The documentation lists some external programs that may be required by get_iplayer most of which I already have. One program I don't have is flvstreamer. Is this generally required? I can't find it any of the main SuSe repos or on the suse software web page.

I don't have this in suse, but do in F10. So no, not needed.
You may need to set the terminal scrolling to 2000

OK thanks. One other thing. Have you updated get_iplayer to the latest 2.41 version or still using the pacman 1.71 version? Will running the command
Code:
get_iplayer --update
break my install?

I just stick with Packman in SUSE!
If you look at the get_iplayer site, it doesn't provide packages for SUSE.

It can be trick to set up.

I'll reply in more detail later. I have to work.

As I said, I use it as I demonstrated in the pictures
EG:

get_iplayer --get 50 --vmode=flashhigh
or
get_iplayer --get 50 --vmode=flashvhigh
or
get_iplayer --get 50 --vmode=flashhd

Thing is I can't recall exactly what I did to set up above and beyond the install from Packman. Because I have flvstreamer. But I'm not sure if I'm using IT or rtmpdump. I have a feeling the latter.
I know I am using flvstreamer in Fedora and behaves differently.

I think you have to su in a terminal

and do:
Code:
chmod 755 /usr/bin/rtmpdump
I think then:

Code:
get_iplayer --prefs-add --rtmpdump /usr/bin/rtmpdump
In Fedora I just put flvstreamer in place of rtmpdump

I think I have the flvstreamer because I put it there.

You can ask questions at the get_iplayer site too. I find the documentation difficult to wade thru.

Thanks. I managed to download a couple of programs using the default settings i.e. get_iplayer --get 123. I'll experiment with the modes, and the other switches when I have a little more time.

I agree about the documentation.
