which file repositories to download ?

dear all,
i use opensuse 11.1. when i want to download in Index of /pub/packman/suse/11.1
, there are some file or folder. so which file i should to download ?
my computer is not connect to internet. so, i download repositories in other computer that windows installed. then i'll move them in my linux pc.

your question can't be answered until you tell us:

did you install 32 or 64 bit openSUSE?

on an AMD or Intel machine? or is it an old Mac with Power PC CPU?

do this, to start: type this command into a terminal

uname -a

and, copy the output back to here..

oh, and i wonder if you know that you might be trying to download
*HUGE* repos???

the 'system' is kinda set up with the idea that users will be
connected to the internet....i don't know how successful you will be
trying to sneaker net a repo..

i wonder if you are just trying to fetch the bits needed for (say)
local DVD/CD/music playing....i wouldn't know how, but maybe if you
ask, someone could tell you the individual bits you need, and you
won't have to download the entire packman repo.....*maybe*..

or, maybe you could connect your machine to the net, temporarily?

i'm sorry about my question. i'm not expert in computer.
i instal 32 bit opensuse on intel machine (intel (R) core(TM)2 quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz, system opensuse 11.1 (i586). i install using DVD.
i had type [uname -a] in the terminal and the result is :
Linux linux-sg86 2.6.27.7-9-pae #1 SMP 2008-12-04 18:10:04 +0100 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
i don't try to download all repos. but i try to download packman repos. cause i want to hear mp3 in amarok.

no apology needed...i just wanted to rule *out* these:
ppc/
src/
x86_64/

i _believe_ you should pull from any/all of these:

i386/
i486/
i586/
noarch/

however, you will NOT need everything in those to get mp3s in
amarok...unfortunately i do _not_ know the bits you need to fetch
(i've not read caf4926s note closely, but suggest you should!)

You are going to be downloading GB's. Of which you will use only a small percentage. Downloading entire repos is not the way to do things. Packman for 11.1 contains 24GB of packages !!!!
From what I read I think you've only just started using linux. You'd better connect the linux PC to the internet (and the Windows PC). It's not that you cannot do without, but it does make things a lot easier.

this page tells you exactly which packages you have to download and install to get mp3 audio working: Restricted Formats/11.1 - openSUSE-Community

in the beginning there are "one-click-installers" which will work only with internet access; further down you'll find the separate packages listed.

even the "zypper" commands assume that you're connected to the internet, but by going to the mentioned repositories and looking for the rpm packages that are listed further down, you should be able to figure out which ones' you'll need.

if you can't seem to figure this out you can post here again and i'll try to put together a list for you...
