I've been down this road before, with Fedora, opensuse, and Ubuntu.

The easiest to fix was Ubuntu, there's a link in their forum that download and installs all the needed codecs.

In OpenSuSE I had to use the RPM's for libdvdccs, libdvdread, libdvdnav but from the VLC VideoLan repo. Those seem to work better than Pacman. weird I know but it works.

For your info, I'm using Lenovo T-61 all intel chips.

CHEERS!

Hi,

I would also recommend installing VLC media player, it works like a dream and it plays all the possible movie file types as well as DVD's.

You can install it either from:

PackMan :: Package details for vlc

or

VLC media player for openSUSE

For me the 1-Click install worked 100%.

I hope you can watch DVD's on your SUSE system this weekend.

Enjoy

H

On this model of laptop, playing DVD is no problem using Kaffiene. you will have to install Kaffiene, then in software management download
libdvdcss
libxine all
win32codecsall
k3b codecs
libdvdread
libdvdnav
all lib xine files
all dvb files
try this out and let us know
