Default Multimedia Pack Portable Light for openSUSE 11.1

This is the light version of the multimedia pack portable for opensuse, this version is only 73 mb in size, once installed all the packages of the list the user will be capable of:

1) Play all the video or audio formats (vlc, mplayer and xine).

2) Edit audio files, convert between formats and record from a microphone (audacity).

3) Edit video files and convert between video formats (avidemux).

4) Create DVD from video files (ManDVD and DEVEDE)

5) Backup originals DVD to DVD5 and rip parts of the DVD to video files (Dvdrip and k9copy).

6) Rip audio CD and burn CD and DVD (k3b).

This is the programs list:

1) vlc
2) mplayer, mplayerplug-in
3) xine, libxine1
4) Devede
5) ManDVD
6) DVDRIP
7) Avidemux
8) k3b, k3b-codecs
9) w32codec
10) k9copy
11) libdvdcss
12) audacity, lame

Where do these packs come from?

Packman repository: if the file has the “pm” letters in the name, it comes from this repository.

OSS: If the files doesn`t have the “pm” letters in the name it comes from this repository.

VLC: Only the libdvdcss comes from this repository.

The pack is available at:

where it will be upgraded monthly

This pack is for basic internet connections, like using a 3g modem where only gprs is available.

Version 10 of the Multimedia Pack Portable for openSUSE 11.1 32 bit now available, the files are updated at Oct 29th, the download links are available at:

Source repos are:


Packman ("pm" letters in the file indicate that it came from this repo)

oss (if it doesn`t have the "pm" letters in the name the rpm file comes from this repo)

vlc (only the libdvdcss file comes from this repo)
