Smile RECOMMEND YOUR PERSONAL TREASURES!

Yeeehaaa, people!
This thread is intendet for posting YOUR personal recommendation(s) of great games for OpenSuse.
I'm absolutely no gamer personality, but when it comes to Adventures like Monkey Island, DOTT, Myst or similar and it's snowing outside... go figure.

Anyhow, please go ahaed and post ONLY the games you think have the most thrilling adrenalin-kicks and the coolest effects in this thread. Let's start with a racecar crash game!

First, install DOSBox. It's in the main repository, so you can just use Yast.

Then, go to:

Classic DOS Games

... and start downloading to your heart's content. All of the old standards are here -- from Duke Nukem to Commander Keen to Clyde's Adventure and Revenge (personal favorites of mine) to Wolfenstein to you name it.

The only problem is, you may never get any work done again.

smpoole7...

Darn, I should have told a little more clear what I want here.
DosBox is a great choice, but orginally I was looking for TRUE linux based games. yeah.

I gave up looking for those years ago, and that's the very reason I installed DOSBox. There are a few advanced games for Linux, but the selection is very limited. Also, one thing that I've noticed in general about the F/OSS gaming community -- apparently they really DO live in dark basements and think dark thoughts, because many of the games are just too blamed dark for my old eyes. Dim, washed out colors on a black background are hard for me to make out. The lack of meaningful help files is another killer.

(My favorite goes, "if you've ever played TiddlyPiddly, this game is just like it!!!" Ok ... what about those of us who've never even HEARD of TiddlyPiddly, much less played it???)

Besides, to be honest, I prefer the old side-scrollers. I like Wolf3D, but by the time Duke Nukem 3D came out, I lost interest. Having to juggle weapons on the fly while Bad Guys are shooting at you is too much for me to keep up with.

Finally, as far as I'm concerned, software is software. I don't care whether I'm running a "native" Linux application or a DOS game in a virtual box, as long as it's playable. It truly doesn't matter to me. The final result and appearance is all that matters, as far as I'm concerned.

But that's just me.

World of Goo !!!

It's maintained by a 2dboy, a 2 person company that spreads it's office throughout the free wifi coffee shops of San Francisco CA USA.

I have not met kids that don't like it, nor any parents, come to think of it. It's non-violent, beautifully done.
