Default Needs a OpenGL implementation. What does that even mean?

I'm trying to install Sauerbraten(Cube 2) on this openSUSE 11.1. I've been told at Cube 2: Sauerbraten - Configuration this:
Quote:
Running Cube 2

* For Windows: Install and then run sauerbraten.bat or select the entry from the Start menu.
* For Linux: Extract and then run ./sauerbraten_unix inside the sauerbraten directory. Needs a decent and compliant OpenGL implementation.

The game and engine derives its simplicity from some rather brute force rendering methods, and as such it needs a beefy machine to get good visual quality. It runs best with vertical sync (vsync) set to OFF and at high refresh rates (otherwise, you may get excessive LOD/FPS variance).
How do get a decent and compliant OpenGL implementation for openSUSE?

Just means you have to have hardware with enough grunt and a good graphics
card with 3D accel through the drivers.

An Nvidia or ATI card with propriety drivers installed

In other words it bangs the hardware so yours better be reasonably good.

just installed and had my a$$ whooped.

that game is fast for an old f^rt like me.

On this machine here Athlon 62 X2 with a GF7300

The game plays really well, I played with more or less defaults for the
graphics at 1440x900 and looking at it I reckon I could put everything up to
max and still have grunt left.

looking at the CPU usage as well and it appears to be multi enabled so that
is an added bonus.

I did see that there are some patches available so might even look more into
this game and install it on my gaming rig ( purely for testing you know )
:-)

Thanks for replying
If it isn't a software I haven't installed. I think my next question is how to I run a shell script? Is there a GUI way to do that?

I did the install from the pacman repo.

Have not had a look at a manual install.

I just had a quick look and it d/loads as bzip file, normally you would
unzip it and will be left with a <name-of-file>.run in a terminal as root
type:

sh ./<name-of-file>.run

that should then start the installer.

If you are not that experienced then may I suggest you install from the
packman repo first using YaST that will then at least let you see if you
like the game and will make things a lot easier, I know it is a slightly
older version but I am sure there are some patches out there for the game to
update it.
