Hey im running amd64, with an nvidia(not legacy)
a while back the nvidia driver use to have a really glitchy problem when running open office, there was a beta driver released that fixed it, when i had that driver installed i could run runescape in hd mode, but i updated the driver, because the stable version doesnt have the problem either, and now runescape hd doesnt work, for a different reason (i got a new hard drive) i completely redid my computer, and now matter what i try (java 5,6,7,icedtea,openjdk,and sun), nothing works, i have also tried different versions of firefox and konqueror, does anyone have any idea what the problem is, when i try to start the hd library it tells me it failed and drops back into sd i remember that i used icedtea when it was working because at that time it was the only 64 bit plugin |

it's a java game run in the browser, it doesn't have a log file, and the creators have systems in place that stop you from downloading the applet so there is no way to run it in the terminal, the game doesn't crash it just says that 3d library can't start so i have to play sd

I am giving this thread a bump since I am running into the same exact problem.
Nvidia 8400GS Suse 11.1 64 (AMDx2) KDE 4.3 Firefox 3.5.2 QuakeLive works great in the browsers and that seems to have more need for a 3D Accelerator then Runescape. I am booting into Windows now just to get this to work in HD, which is really a pain to do each time. Java is installed and updated. Here is the page it directs me to after the error message. Quote:

Anyone know how 3D browsers games work? What lets that game know that you have a 3D card?
I am wondering why it can see it in Windows for this game but it can't see it in Suse when Quakelive.com works fine. Any thoughts? Any guesses?

Well I tried again to work this out. Nothing is working. I found a lot of posts with people who have had the same problem but it is with other distro's and for some reason I can't get it to work with Suse the right way. I can't find anything specifically for Suse.
This is an Ubuntu thread and they got it to work in HD. [SOLVED] Runescape HD - Ubuntu Forums I am spending most of my time in Windows now. I am really getting tired of doing that. So my options are these. Stay with Suse and use SD which is choppy for some reason. Get use to using Windows and moving back (Not really an option that I am going to do. I rather like being Windows free,) or change to a distro that has this worked out. Which would probably be one of the ones I am more use to like Ubuntu. Can anyone give me some ideas based on the above Ubuntu post? I tried a few things including reinstalling Nvidia drivers through YaST and un-installing three GCJ entries. I also did "sed -i s/XINERAMA/ZINERAMA/g Xorg" Well back to Windows 7 for a few . I really hope I can get this figured out. I like the set up Suse has and I want to stay with it. Like I said quakelive.com works great so I have no idea why I can't get this to work.
