I found that when I enable animations in the CompizConfig Settings Manager the effects don't work and magically the checkbox unchecks itself. Wobbly windows work as do other effects like the cube and rain. The same thing happens when I enable window previews. It's like something is changing the settings (KDE?). How can I fix this?
If this helps I have a NVIDIA 9800GT gfx card |

Fixed! I uninstalled compiz and all related things (emerald themes etc) then reinstalled it. After that it didn't work until I reinstalled/updated the package compiz-fusion-main-plugins.
