I just want to hear others experience with this game, and if maybe somebody knows how to tweak wine to make it work.

I already did, it installs perfect without any tweaking. But when i lunch the game in wine 1.1.9 nothing happens.
But after i upgraded to wine 1.1.25 it says: The program Autorun has encountered a serious problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. |

Have you tried running it from the terminal, I suspect you'll get missing xyz a billion times, at that point I wish you luck. I always found if you have to work it in then it can take days of trouble shooting, wasn't worth the hassle for me so now I stick the xbox on.
And was I to play games on the pc then I would buy linux games,http://www.linuxgamepublishing.com/ support the guys supporting us, it is only by supporting them we'll see changes. [Phoronix] An Interview With A Linux Game Porter Quote:

It is difficult to buy linux games, when you play games like football manager 2009 and Pro cycling Manager 2009.
And for me this is more like a religion than a game. I managed to get football manager 2009 to work after a lot of tweaking. Which was my demand for switching from Windows. I really love Opensuse and the linux way of thinking, so I would hate to switch back. |

The compromise might be to run Windows as a virtual guest for those gotta-have games that don't work. I use Virtualbox and it seems to do just fine. Also, I've found that a lot of Wine programs won't run until you copy some missing DLL or the other from your Win installation. That's all it takes to get most of the stuff I load up and running. You can spot the missing pieces when you run the app from a command line. I've also had grief from autorun - usually there is a setup.exe somewhere on the distro disk that will install just fine when autorun fails. -- Will Honea |
