M$ Office is certainly an excellent application. No doubt. If you need it fair enough. Just once an associate sent me a .docx file as an attachment, this was right back just after it was released and all trial versions were spewing out these hopeless files. I could actually read it in my email client (TBird). I asked if they could export the file as .pdf and resend - I never did get it. Does M$ office 07 have that function?

I was surprised to hear of excel crashing.

No, you can't export as .pdf... one big drawback if you ask me. That was one thing I noticed about OO.o that I like.

Excel crashed many times on me when I was working with external data sources and trying to copy/paste things between different worksheets. Always when it autosaves or when I do a manual save. I don't know why this is the case and I didn't find anything on google about the problem.

I'm sure M$ must have some kind of bug reporting arrangement (other than those hopeless error report boxes that used to pop up with 'send' or 'don't send').
I have an actual, real XP install too, but it must be 12 months since it was booted and I seem to recall that was just for moments.
I setup XP in Virtual Box thinking that would be handier - It is, but it never gets used either except to impress the occasional visitor to our home.
I removed Vista entirely from my Laptop. Truly, Vista is not something to write home about.

Code:
wget http://www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks
But then I can't open it and install packages. I can't even access the directory it supposedly is in.

Code:
linux-sjke:/usr/bin # ls
winetricks
linux-sjke:/usr/bin # cd /usr/bin/winetricks
bash: cd: /usr/bin/winetricks: Not a directory
What gives here? I type ls and it says winetricks is a directory, then I try to change into it and it says it isn't a directory.
Who ever said it was a directory?

Also: please never ever run wine or winetricks as root.

I tried installing it and opening it and it says command not found. Am I missing something?
Could be you're missing the package that provides
kdialog. Try installing kde4-kdialog.
It's strange that you have KDE installed but not kdialog;
I assumed when I wrote winetricks that kdialog would
always be there if KDE was in use. Maybe I'll have to
rethink that assumption.

What does the command
zenity
output? If that command is present, maybe I should
use that even on kde.
