Default Thunderbird mail notification tray icon

In the XP version of Thunderbird, a try icon appears when new mail arrives. I noticed in the Linux version I don't get the tray icon. Is there anyway of getting it to show or is it not available in the Linux version?

I don't know about your desktop but my Linux Thunderbird flashes a panel with a summary of the new mail items at the bottom right corner, which is even better.

Yes I get that. The problem is if I leave my desk for a minute I may miss the popup so it would be nice to have the icon come up to indicate new mail waiting.

I just found an extension (clicky) that puts the icon in the tray when new mail arrives but it disables the new mail popup you speak about.

Can't have it both ways - well not yet.

Cool I didn't knew that there is now an equivalent for linux desktop. I've searched for something like this a while ago and using s separate program wasn't an option for me.

Thank you for the link maybe I'll give that a try

Have a lot of fun
