Default Widgets spanning entire panel

Disclaimer: I did a bit of searching on this and couldn't find anything, but I didn't look too hard so if this is comparable to something posted before please direct me.

First of all im running Suse 11.1 with KDE 4.1. The problem I am having only occurs through VNC (vnc startup script calls startkde), when I physical log into the machine the issue doesnt exist.

The problem is that when I add a widget to any panel it will span the width of the entire panel, meaning only 1 widget can be in place unless I expand the height of the panel to see additional widgets. When I try to rearrange widgets on the panel I can only move them up or down, not side to side since they span the entire panel.

Can anyone give me some guidance on what settings I would need to change so they dont span the entire panel? Im at a loss since it works correctly when I physically log into the machine.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Default Re: Widgets spanning entire panel

actually I would suggest updating to KDE 4.2 or even giving KDE 4.3 beta 2 a shot, a lot of improvements have been made to plasma since KDE 4.1.
