Hard drive links on desktop

Ok everyone I am aware that many people have this issue. I am using SUSE11 not 11.1, 11.0. I am using the GNOME desktop and I for some reason cannot figure out how to create a link to a harddrive on the desktop. I have the neat little mounted hard drive app on my panel which displays all of my window$ hard drives but, for some reason not my beautiful pure souled linux drives. All of the drives show up in fdisk and they are all in the filesystem and I can access them. When I attempt to right click the desktop and create a launcher and I use the location option the link does not work. It allows me to browse the file folders but, it wont allow me to select a folder it forces me to open the folder as though I need provide it with a file or an executable. Now I am not a super newb and I realize this question is probably forehead slappingly easy but, I for the life of me cannot find the answer to this question. I am sorry if this is the incorrect area of the forums to post this but, I am pretty sure it's not. Please do not respond with anything like "mount the drive" because as I said I already have access to the drives through nautilus i just want to create a link on the desktop because it is faster than going through Naut everytime. I'm not too sure I understand the point of this. Do you have partitions you want to access in Linux other than the one dedicated to /home ?
And if you already can access them, via Nautilus, can't you just create a link on the Desktop, though what difference that is from just clicking 'Computer' I don't know?

i'm not sure exactly what you want to see when you click that link you
wanna make on the desktop..

that is you say "I have the neat little mounted hard drive app on my
panel which displays all of my window$ hard drives but, for some
reason not my beautiful pure souled linux drives." which causes me to
wonder how many different hard drives you have...and, exactly what you
see when you click on one of the "window$ hard drives"...that is, do
you see a tree view of (say) C: like you would if you were using windows?

maybe you can do a screen shot of what you are trying to do for your
"Linux hard drives"..

and, i wonder how many of those drives you have..

and, i wonder if you have _one_ hard drive with several "window$" and
Linux partitions..

and, i wonder if what you are looking for is a series of individual
nautilus icons each pointing to a different "Linux hard drive", or
maybe one icon to open at / and another for /home and another for
/home/[you]/photos, and more maybe...

if i insulted you, it was unintentional...but i cannot help you if i
don't understand what you seek..

Try adding a launcher:

- Right-click on the desktop
- Select "Create a launcher"
- Launcher Type: application, Name: My shortcut, Commad: nautilus /media
- Click O.K

That will be create an icon in desktop called "My shortcut". When clicking
on it, it will launch "/media" folder in Nautilus.

You can just adjust the path to your needs.

Camaleon!!!! Thanks dude..... that did the trick. I just didn't have the nautilus command. Didn't know I could do that. That got it working. Thank you very much. Oh and thanks to everyone else for taking the time.
