Just been reading about this, now from what I can see there isn't the option to do it for desktop but there is for workspaces OK confused yeah I agree, so hopefully this might help.
[opensuse] Workspaces X Wallpapers (KDE4) I also noticed they said it doesn't save per reboot, as I don't use kde4 I can't test, but I would thought you could have one desktop per workspace<shrug> and if you hibernate just on the occasional reboots you would need to choose them again. How you would navigate it I dont know(I'm guessing the desktop applet in plasma wouldn't be much good) As for the other again this would be window rules(sticky) and windows place(viewports) again I'm not sure how or even if this is implemented. But... Compiz Fusion can do both of these and more... KDE4 should of given up with this and just allowed Compiz Fusion to take it all over rather than trying to be a mongrel. |

For some reason functionality disappeared when 4.2 hit the scene. I think it is being worked on but I don't have any current information. Initially a lot of people were confused as to what it was, and it had some 'usability' issues. Also there was quite an uproar over the 'toolbox' which was a cashew in the upper right corner that was unmovable which yanked a lot of peoples chains. Hopefully it will return in some form. |

It's being worked on. Currently using the 4.3 beta. The cashew is movable along the screen edge and to get a different wallpaper you'll need to use a new activity for each desktop.
You do this by clicking the cashew on the top right then clicking "Zoom out". Then click "Configure Plasma..." and choose "Different activity for each Desktop". As stated before I'm using the 4.3 beta though so it may or may not change. Take Care, Ian

Do you know if there's a way to enable it under 4.2.3. The cashew is just gone in 4.2.3 and I'm having some stellar issues with by dual screen setup. Last Friday I did something and lost the right panel. The mouse moves over there by I cannot drag a window on it. LOL. |
