Remote Administration - Displays only grey screen at login

Hello,
I am having no luck figuring out this problem.

When I attempt to connect via vnc (UltraVNC Viewer -WinXP) to my workstation, all I get is a grey (gray) screen and will disconnect after a few minutes. I have tried the following methods without any success.

rcxdm restart
xinetd restart
init3 / init 5

I've open the appropriate ports on my firewall.

The only thing that will work is to reboot the workstation. Any ideas? Thanks!
