Yes in /boot there is 2 of everything. 1 for default and 1 for pae. Both pae version and default version boot, well the failsafe pae version boots anyways. The nvidia drivers are installed for defualt.

Darn, why do I have to mess with things? videos online were playing all choppy. figured it was all the effects. I disabled them to see if it helped. now I can enable everything except cube and scale. I click on them and the area around the check becomes blue, but it wont check. I then click on the words desktop cube and enable it there, but I click back and its still not enabled. WHY???? lol stupid me.
Edit: scale, annotate, and water effects all wont enable, along with the cube. |

Hehe strange you mention that, I've noticed the same on mine but isn't as persistent as yours. It seems its just not visible but is taking the change, try closing and re-opening or going to a different part.
I find the easiest is to just swap the whole window manager out highly unlikely it is just some setting any way. I just use fusion-icon though it can tend to be ram hungry. I've not had any problems with movies or games think I had only one game that refused to play with compiz-fusion. Also another distro |
