Default Webpage editor visual design?

Hi everyone. I wonder if there is any free nice editor for webpages that would have some kind of visual design. I'm looking for something that would allow fast page design, for instance, that you can drag an drop components (frames, buttons, pictures,..) on page etc. Any suggestion welcome.

Depends what you are used to. Have you tried Quanta?
Bluefish may lack features you require.

I use Quanta+ and I can't drag/drop pics on it. Wish I could. The old NVU GUI program was as useful and functional as the ms frontpage program. Then NVU was superseded by Mozilla Composer which is great (of course, being an old guard reactionary, I still love Quanta). But dragNdrop -- don't know of a true dragNdrop thingy for images. Let us know if u find one.

All the open source web editors have basically ceased being developed and supported years ago: NVU in its various incarnations, Quanta, etc (there never was much else). I don't expect there to be any new developments on this front at all because everyone's using Drupal, Joomla, or other CMS these days. Maybe that would be the way to go for you too?
Otherwise, the only suggestion I can make is to use Wine: apparently Dreamweaver works well under it, even the CS2/CS3 versions.

Thumbs up Re: Webpage editor visual design?

Kompozer version .8a2 is just coming out of the gate as as a well developed beta update to the old 7.10 which was blowing up with newer kernels. I always liked it best of the options on Linux. Closest to the WYSIWYG style editors. Quanta is probably better, but too confusing for me.

I don't do frames, but the drag and drop of images (at least) seems to work.

You can grab it here; KompoZer 0.8a2 - Kaz'hack I just exploded the tarball and run kompozer to get it going. So far so good for me.

I usually use Seamonkey Composer but you can run Dreamweaver 8 in Wine.

Thanks for hints, what I've found out so far is that Aptana studio looks very prommising, but don't know exactly if it supports visual desing or not, as they say it has some gui builder, but I'm not sure, I have to give it a try.

Thumbs up Re: Webpage editor visual design? Kompozer Update

FYI - Kompozer 8a3 has just been released and is available at SourceForge.net; SourceForge.net: KompoZer

Author Kaze has an interesting comment on the place of Seamonkey Composer in relation to NVU and Kompozer in the Open Discussion forum topic at: Chart of Kompozer vs. Nvu vs. Seamonkey
