Amarok 2

Hi

This was really getting to me. How on earth can we install amarok 2 in KDE 4.2?? it keeps asking me to downgrade to 4.1

There were some changes around KDE4 repositories. Read this blog post and make sure that you are using the right repositories.

You want amarok from the Factory desktop repo
Use software management - filter by repo
select the Factory Desktop repo
find amarok there

You may need to go to the versions tab lower down the screen and click the radio button for amarok 2 from factory

We should tell people to use the "stable" repo, we shouldn't recommend factory repos anymore.

For additional applications (k3b, quite stable but Alpha version, looks like it will be even better than KDE 3 version) use these repositories:

P.S. Why don't use Factory repo? There are some changes going on and after some time there will be KDE 4.3 Beta and you don't want it yet

In my factory repos, i'm not seeing the amarok 2.0.2. Just the 1xxx

The repo you quote I understand to be a freeze of 4.2.2

Maybe the OP should give us

Well, maybe i was too harsh, i meant it's the amarok version we want from this repo. Of course we can get that from somewhere else but it's the 42 repo we want to get it from

And yes, i mean the 4.2.2 freezed repo that we should use from now on.

By the way, amarok is called amarok now, not kde4-amarok anymore. And watch the version or you'll install KDE 3 version of Amarok (which isn't bad at all )

P.S. Amarok 2 is in Factory repo as i checked.

I'd be lost completely, you got many duplicates here and unnecessary repos.
