Exclamation YaST2 Cannot install software

When I try to install software via YaST2 (11.0 and KDE4.2) system checks repositories and then I get the following message:

"YaST got signal 11 at YCP file /usr/share/YaST2/clients/inst_packages.ycp:36
/sbin/yast2: line 421: 28290 Segmentation fault $ybindir/y2base $module “$@” “$SELECTED_GUI” $Y2_GEOMETRY $Y2UT_ARGS"

And that only happens under KDE4.2, GNOME no problems....As I'm not an expert I'm completely lost...pls help

Default Re: YaST2 Cannot install software

I have a problem also. KDE4 from the factory repos, running OS 11.0.

When I start Yast from the link in kickoff, I get the main screen (options on the left, modules in the main view). When I click a module, the spinnng balls appear, then nothing. nada.

Launching yast via su -, yast2 is the same, no error message in the konsole. launching yast2 sw_single results in no konsole output & no window either. Nothing is running looking with ps aux. no need to ctrl-c this last command, it returns straight away.

it works if I launch it running in ncurses mode, but not with qt.

I've just updated all repos (upgrade is newer ver available) in ncurses but no luck fixing anything.

launching using y2base sw_single -S qt (instead of the yast2 command) is exactly the same.

I'd like to get some info on whas broken, but get no console output..

Please see YaST/Crashes - openSUSE for hints. Which repos do you have (zypper lr -u)?

I've had the same problem with YaST2 in SuSE 10.3. It has stopped working since the last time automatic updates happened recently.

When I try to install software using YaST2 (in SuSE 10.3) and only using SuSE repositories I can't get YaST to work as it used to. I get almost the same message as follows:

"YaST got signal 11 at YCP file /usr/share/YaST2/clients/sw_single.ycp:187

/sbin/yast2: line 386: 17985 Segmentation fault $ybindir/y2base $module “$@” “$SELECTED_GUI” $Y2_GEOMETRY $Y2QT_ARGS"

Does any one have any suggestions how to revert to the earlier version that worked fine? I find yast fails even using a text login as root without using the X11 GUI system.

Help!!!

Default Segmentation error in YaST2 Software Management module

Using OpenSuSE 10.3

Software management module crashes after checking RPM database and repositories but before listing known and installed applications. I believe this has happened due to an update applied recently but am uncertain as to when.

The error is as below:

"YaST got signal 11 at YCP file /usr/share/YaST2/clients/sw_single.ycp:187
/sbin/yast2: line 386: 17985 Segmentation fault $ybindir/y2base $module “$@” “$SELECTED_GUI” $Y2_GEOMETRY $Y2QT_ARGS"

I've tried reducing the repositories I have selected down to just 2 officials but with no improvement.

Any suggestions?
