Hi,
I have downloaded OpenSuse 11.1 KDE4 LiveCD version, when I reach the login screen and try to login using KDE4, it refuses to start and brings me back to the login screen .. but when I try KDE4(failsafe) it works !! So, what is the difference ? Is it ok to use it or I'm missing something with KDE4 failsafe ? like 3d acceleratoin for example ? well, previously I had several unstabilities with kde 3.5.x that caused the X server to restart suddenly, but this one with KDE 4 doesn't evenlet me in .. my video card is Intel 945.. I'm sorry if I'm asking too many question ... Thanks in advance .. |

To be honest, if it works with failsafe that is fine. It just eliminates some hardware and graphics issues, it's not unusual.
I prefer to use the DVD for install. You may find you have to boot that other than the default install. If you are running a live cd and want to see if has setup 3D, open a konsole/terminal and type: glxgears It likely will not work from a failsafe boot. Intel works fairly well. You other concern might be wireless! Often an issue. Mine works out of the box. Just click the knetworkmanager icon and away you go.

Well, sometimes I need 3D acceleration..
I think I'll go with the 'gnome' version of openSUSE.. it worked from the live CD smoothly without an issue, so, the problem is probably a KDE4 issue .. Thank you... |
