KDE 4.0 icons gone wierd/replaced

hi

i just installed opensuse11.0 and removed icewm. but after that, the kde menu bar icons were replaced. so i reinstalled icewm and updated the oxygen icon set. i also made a backup copy of .kde4 in /home/username/. everything went back to normal when i re-login, but ofcourse all my effects, window decorations, etc are gone. so i overwrote the share folder in .kde4 with the backup copy. everything went back to normal except..the circled icons in the following picture. what should i do?

To be honest what you see there is something trying to load, my advice is to delete .kde4 and start again.

Even better install kde3 first
login to that, then delete .kde4
Now add the kde4 factory reop and update all unconditionally in the kde4.1 repo

i made a new account to test kde4 today. everything was going fine...until i change the icon set from oxygen to crystal. i had suspected something there. the icons weren't replaced immediately, but after i re-login, the icons changed. so i started over again, delete that new user i created and made a new user and did the settings and stuff. i avoided changing the icon set. but then, when i was making a new profile for konsole (changing colors, fonts), and after i did that, when i right clicked in konsole, the Dolphin file manager's icon changed to that desktop computer icon (the one in the picture). so i relogged out. the log out icon (down arrow) on the kde menu was fine, but on the window after i clicked on it, that icon was substituted by the desktop computer icon (like the one above).

this is really really bothering me! what should i do? i do not want to do trial and error again like i did to find out about the icon set of oxygen and crystal.

upgrade to 4.1
as I suggested earlier

okay the instant i upgraded to 4.1, the icons turn back to normal. it turns out when i am actually running kde 4.1, the system appears to be very very unstable. so i had to remove it. but i dont see 4.1 in yast so i decided to download 4.0 from the link above and install it. when i attempted to log back into kde4.0, it said "could not start kdeinit4. check your installation". i did it again, still no good. what should i do? i miss kde 4.0

So I suggest you reinstall. use the dvd not the cd

and use kde3
not kde4

wait until 11.1 is released later in the year to use kde4

It really not suitable new users
