Thanks! There's a couple modules ('mixer' and 'echo') to control Master Volume/PCM in a package 'e_modules' (there're a lot of funny stuff inside indeed). But for my OpenSUSE-11.0 seems that new 'alsa' require some patching. I'll see this eve what I can do (though I'm not the developer, sorry). I guess that right now you're welcome to use stand-alone apps for it (like 'kmix', 'alsamixer', 'alsamixergui' etc.)

Ok. Fixed. Was my fault. It's nice to have a PC only for testing and not the one where you build all your stuff . Grab 'e_modules' package, load 'echo' or 'mixer' and check others .

Also added some EFL-based apps to the repo:

Good stuff, thanks for those .

Another question, you wouldn't know how to enable openGL rendering would you?

I found an option (somewhere, forget where now though), to switch from software, to openGL rendering.

I tried it but it didn't work, I was wondering if there was a special option I need to add to my xorg.conf, or if I can get an error report from somewhere.

I use the Nvidia driver provided by the openSUSE repos, openSUSE 11.

Thanks .

Well, first of all I'd like to advise pay some attention to the command

> enlightenment_remote -h

It provide a bit more 'extended' configuration capabilities then GUI in EC (E Config Panel). Right now you can switch 'engines' from 'software' to 'xrender' BUT you won't receive any benefits from it (only penalties, function is just for the developers). The 'heart' of E-DR17 is 'evas' - the canvas library. And you already have full OpenGL support compilled in as an engine. You can install 'Expedite' (complete test suite for E), open your terminal and type:

> expedite

It'll show you a brief usage summary and give you an idea which engines are already compled into.

Right now the integration with OpenGL (and load of GPU instead of CPU for all windows manipulations if the acceleration exist) is a work in progress. You're welcome to install Mac OS X if you need full-time OpenGL output right now .

Thanks again for the extended info.

Unfortunately it's a bit beyond me, I'm just an "average" user .

I'm happy to keep it as it is, it is so fast and reliable that I don't want to disturb it.

We have a "global" update to the cvs-snapshot of July 09, 2008. Please remove 'e_systray' package, because it'll breal your boot into E17 if installed and enabled.

Also we have a latest 'E16' packed along with 'epplets', 'ethemes' and 'e16keyedit' plus some extra themes from Nathan Baxter.

Enjoy!

Default Enlightenment (DR-16 and DR-17) LiveCD

Yep, here it is:

http://sda.scwlab.com/suse-11.0-live-iso.i686-2.5.1.iso

it's the second alpha release. Works nice, but still there's a lot of space for improvements. CHECK md5sum and SIZE after download!

Brief Summary:

http://sda.scwlab.com/

Login credentials:

User: linux
Pass: soad

User: root
Pass: soad

List of installed packages:

http://sda.scwlab.com/list_of_instal...ckages.tar.bz2

Total .iso size is about 455Mb today. A lot could be added, even OpenOffice... But... This LiveCD is not about OpenOffice.

Enjoy!

You might want to consider using bittorrent for downloads, it will save your server being bogged down with downloads .

I use torrentflux, it's quite nice and easy to setup, and you can limit the upload speed.

This is a great thread. I've been playing with E and suse on and off since 10.3, and it's rockin' cool.
