Another suggestion I would have in to disable the installation DVD repository under YaST:

  1. Open YaST
  2. Enter root password when prompted
  3. Open Software Repository under the Software heading
  4. Click on the openSUSE 11.1-0 repository
  5. Uncheck the Enabled button
  6. Click the OK button

Now YaST won't check for the packages on the installation DVD every time you start the installer.
