Clearly, that does NOT give you sound. But its typical that only one of the 3 tests in the troubleshooting guide give sound.

Did you try this recommended test, which is a link from the troubleshooting guide:

The fact that your log out sound works suggests to me your sound is ok, and this is likely a problem with either your mixer setup (check master, PCM and speaker volumes are set high in your mixer) or with your codecs for nominal multimedia applications.
