The Iraq "Surge" comes to mind.
Then, jump forward to the 4,000 Marines now kicking off an operation in Afghanistan; give them each all the "Magic Bullets" the US GDP will procure and tell them to defend the 1.200 mile border with Pakistan -- bet the commander will trade some "Magic Bullets" for more troops with regular old ammo.
