That is only to get the firmware, not the driver. You would need to
rerun that script after a new installation that reformatted the
partition containing /lib; however, a simple kernel upgrade will not
touch that directory.

A kernel upgrade should not affect any device that uses b43, but it
will if you use the Broadcom-wl driver. That is why I asked what
device is involved.
