Cool Hard drive links on desktop

Ok everyone I am aware that many people have this issue. I am using SUSE11 not 11.1, 11.0. I am using the GNOME desktop and I for some reason cannot figure out how to create a link to a harddrive on the desktop. I have the neat little mounted hard drive app on my panel which displays all of my window$ hard drives but, for some reason not my beautiful pure souled linux drives. All of the drives show up in fdisk and they are all in the filesystem and I can access them. When I attempt to right click the desktop and create a launcher and I use the location option the link does not work. It allows me to browse the file folders but, it wont allow me to select a folder it forces me to open the folder as though I need provide it with a file or an executable. Now I am not a super newb and I realize this question is probably forehead slappingly easy but, I for the life of me cannot find the answer to this question. I am sorry if this is the incorrect area of the forums to post this but, I am pretty sure it's not. Please do not respond with anything like "mount the drive" because as I said I already have access to the drives through nautilus i just want to create a link on the desktop because it is faster than going through Naut everytime. Thank you all for your time and don't forget to insult me in your posts cause it helps with the learning.
