Fixing the computer menu, where I can find "traditional GNOME menu or Custom Menu " to add applet, could you please kindly describe it in more detail?

PS. my knowledge of linux is very limited to the codes I work with. When I ask questions about a problem people say " go and read ...." for me it means " go an find a pin in an ocean..." I love linux, but systematic learning is very good.
