If you ended up on another distribution (or another version of openSUSE), perhaps you could post here precisely what you consider to be a superior FONT settings, superior STYLE, and superior THEME (from that distribution or openSUSE version) so that we can understand better what distressed you so much about the "Ugly Fonts" (to quote the thread Title).

No need to be nervous :-) Who mentioned style or theme? I am distressed, but for other reasons :-)
I already posted a screenshot of my openSUSE 10.3 desktop. This is my brand-new, all-shiny Mandriva 2009. The only thing I changed is the color scheme (I selected slightly lighter one, I think).
What pleases me is fonts configuration. Also, overall appearance is quite good, and I'll definitely give it a try. OpenOffice, gimp, pidgin and Firefox are inlined with KDE apps, and Lotus Notes looks quite good. I also installed a few KDE3 apps, which share the overall appearance of KDE4 apps.
Besides that, NVidia is supplied with the installation CD, some beta version, and it works with compiz, logout from KDE session works (on 11.1 all I got is a black screen; problem with kdm I guess).
To be fair, I have to mention that opensuse provides much more software (no sudo on mandriva cd!)
Cheers,
Davor
