Make sure you are using the correct authentication method ie: WEP, WPA etc..
try changing it in the router or even disable wireless encryption to see if it is with that or something else. Different combo's etc. Process of elimination.

I guess the following is correct as it works in windows:
make sure if you are using access control in the router you have the MAC address of the network device. And possibly you will have to assign a LAN IP address to that access point/MAC.

If all else fails - ndiswrapper
