OK, great. So your sound is sorted now, correct?
And now its a matter of fine tuning your Video.
I confess with all the suggestions, and input, it is not clear to me where you stand with the video.
1st, when you say "windows", what are you comparing it to? WinXP ? Vista?
2nd, I also assume you are using some custom codec pac in windows, 'cause my wife never could (and I don't give her much windows support, since I don't know windows) never get video working well in WinXP.
3rd, what is the state of your openSUSE video hardware/graphics/desktop setup? What hardware? what driver in your xorg? Are you trying this with special desktop affects installed? Installed but disabled? Installed but enabled? Gnome? KDE-4? KDE-3.5.9? I noted you have changed your configuration many times, and I don't know where you stand now.
I have compared my video graphics (running on very old hardware) with windows PCs running WinXP and Vista running on newer hardware, and those Windoze OS on the new hardware can not compete with what I have setup in openSUSE Linux. BUT I also concede the owners of the new hardware (with windows OS) are not Windows/multimedia guru's, but rather just average Windows users.

According to the rpm query I had you do, that is
not the case. The rpm query output CLEARLY shows alsa-plugins-pulse installed on your PC!
