I have a dual amd64 system (2ghz each) with a 500gb maxtor IDE drive....running smart update results in the entire system hanging while the HD light thrashes like crazy for 2 to 3 minutes..before finally returning control...this is at the loading and updating cache steps in smart...it also does the same thing when saving cache...no other apps seem to cause the same issue...any way to correct it?
