Thanks for the reply, open firmware is not working so holding the c key on boot just crashes out into yaboot. But yaboot is working. I,ve been having a ppc distro install fest and its allows osx ,cd and the other distrosto boot ok.
The installer starts from the cd but fails to see its self? it say there is no cd in the drive but its running off that drive.
The md5sum is ok. . The medium dvd -R all burnt with linux using gnome baker or k3b at a slow rate. I thought it may be my scsi card with a drive with osx on confusing it so I removed the card still no luck. I unplugged all usb devices except kb and mouse incase it was confused by my usb dvd burner.
I saw this thread but thought it more appropriate to post on the ppc forumhttp://www.suseforums.net/index.php?showtopic=28721

I had some old cd's suse 10.3 that I'd down loaded but only use for a day or two on another pc. The Install of 10.3 worked

but I cant get it to upgrade to suse 11. Yast control centre can see the iso I down loaded and the dvd in the drive and the mirror but cant seem to upgrade. I'm not at all familiar with yast so may be doing something dumb.
Is there a command line way to upgrade the system to suse 11 from the iso or dvd? any advice received with thanks
Also when trying to update yaboot there is a gui but I failed to make it work. I could do it by editing the yaboot file but could not find it, does yast write the yaboot info to a different file that I could edit? if so could some one point it out to me. I realise open firmware is a pita especially ( in my experiance ) when osx in not on the same drive but I could not figure out how to add the cd drive. I tryed setting /dev/hdc unber the boot manager boot was not sure of the settings.
Rereading this it seem bit negative so on the positive side the finding and setting up my dual monitors was the best of any of the 5 distros in my little ppc test my xorg.conf and please bear in mind this is my first real investigation of open suse.
thanks
