There is another way to do it. Disable XGL by running gnome-xgl-switch --disable-xgl, then go into yast-->system-->/etc/sysconfig editor. I don't know where it is in 10.3, but there is an option in there which is set by default to "Xorg". Find it, and change it to XGL.

Sorry I can't be more specific, I'm at work, on a Windows machine.
