Yes your repomd source is working which is the non-oss source. Every other source you have has been commented out with the # sign in front of it. As for your issues with apt, I'm not really sure there was much done with apt in 10.2 since yast and smart have come into play and imo are both much better at package management. I think that is why you are having such a hard time with synaptic.

i wished i could stick to yast, but it freaked out on me.
in fact, even if i impose the option not to refresh my on-line installation sources, every time i want to install some new packages it tries to download all of the packages list again. which are tons of megabytes of stuff.
i have a dialup connection and that is quite painful to me.

sometime ago this would not happen, but recently i got this problem and it is really bothering me.

I even reinstalled completely yast, but this problem yet persits.
Smart doesn' t work at all, either the binary version from the official distribution or recompiling it from sources.
I mean the program does not start at all.
Have you got any idea how i could fix the problem in yast?
in fact recompilation of synaptic hangs giving me errors related to some file called packagemanager.h or something like that.
Have you got any suggestions how i could fix that?
