I am also having sound recording problems.

Playing sounds seems set at a low volume too, I crank to external speakers up so I can cope but it isn't anything that's going to annoy the folks next door.

I have reconfigured the sound card, used KMix to crank every setting up to full and can now record a very faint me, if I speak very loudly. This is very odd as I can hear whats going into the mic coming thru the headphones, but what gets recorded is only about 10% of the volume I hear.
