M8 I have a similar problem in Yellow Dog 4.1 on my G4 mini. Many folks offered me sugestions & similar problems in various distros. I use an ASUS PM17TS monitor, when I boot up linux my screen is always shifted to the right. I have made a custom Xorg config. But problem still stays, to correct the issue I have to push the "auto" or turn off & on my monitor to get screen centered. Some sugested finding a better ATI graphics driver. Myself I feel its my monitor. As my nephews BENQ didnt have the issue when used on my mini. In the next week or so I plan to buy a apple cinema display & hopefully my problem will be gone. I will put a post back here as the ASUS monitor was originally purchased for an ASUS PC I have & I will be running SUSE 10.2 & XP.
