Followingmy posting yesterday, some digging in the Japanese manual for the 850i led to a file list in English.

/usr/local/share/printuipixus850i.res has a collection of messages including those for the maintenance jobs.

# printuipixus850i in a terminal brings up the Canon Pixus850i window with the Maintenance tab !!

So far I cannot get any responce from selecting any operation and can find no options for printuipixus850i . They must exist but where now?
