Yup - I had tried in Konsole.
But Grim76 hit the nail. In Control Centre I had no Country selected so took UK. Also in keyboard layout had nothing so took UK there as well. Still no-go. But browsing the keyboard shortcuts, Shortcut sequences have just seen C mapped to "Switch to desktop 5". Have just set that back to "Default" and voila!
Many thanks to all for suggestions & help. Cant imagine how the hell I set c to be my shortcut for desktop 5 (I only use 1 desktop) but am happy to be able to ccccccccccc again
