This would not be a problem. Multiple slashes in paths in Linux are
reduced to one (or ignored, IOW). For example, in a terminal you could
do:
cd ///home//////myusername/another//////dir//////
and it would work just fine.
If you copied the URL from a webpage, you might have gotten an invalid
character copied with it and not noticed. If you think that is a
possibility, copy it to a text file and verify that no strange
characters (or extra spaces, et al.) show up . . .
